Every Little Step

Uncategorized Jul 02, 2017

Before an action, there is almost always thought that precedes it. Just how much thought would most often determine the quality and impact of that action.

Before you conquer physically, you must conquer mentally. That is a fact of life and whomsoever ignores this, does so at his or her own peril!

Not too long ago, I started exercising by taking a walk almost every morning. I was pleasantly surprised to run into quite a few friends and acquaintances also engaging in this very beneficial venture. Of course, this further emboldened me.

I gradually got to do an enviable, by my records, 4 miles (about 6.4 km). I felt lighter, healthier and stronger every passing day - this made me very happy.

But I did not achieve this in a day, two days or even twenty. It took quite a while. Some days I would go weeks on end just making one circuit which was about 1 mile and I would call it quits. Subsequently, I started doing two circuits, then it was three and finally four.

I built up my strength and resolve one step at a time until I could comfortably do 6km.

Every little step counted towards this personal feat and I revelled in my success. I cherished this accomplishment even though I know that success is not a destination, but a continuous journey towards self-actualisation.

Before an action, there is almost always thought that precedes it. Before I could conquer physically, their was mental conquest.

In achieving goals and objectives, your main thought should be to make every little step count.
